Sam McKoy- Founder, head guide

Sam Mckoy is most at home in the mountains but also the one answering your e-mails early in the morning or late at night. Originally from Whistler BC, Sam now lives in the southern heart of the Coast Mountains: Pemberton BC. Sam's diverse and extensive expedition experience has led him to starting this company in the hopes of providing unique outdoors experiences, and in making an effort towards sustainability and improved communities. Sam combines knowledge from his University studies, experience as an outdoor educator, ski, hiking and interpretive guide to design trips and curriculum.

  • Swiftwater Technician Level 1 (rescue level 3)
  • Canadian Bear Viewing Association Assistant Guide

Kim Herrick - Lead Guide

Kim is a rare kindness with equal parts female superhuman. Her extensive expedition experience has led her all throughout Canada and the US and she also finds herself teaching youth outdoor education programs in the fall and winter. Originally from Canada's East Coast, Kim now lives in in Squamish BC. Ask Kim about the wildflowers you see and she'll identify each one for you. Kim splits her summers working for NOLS and Ipsoot Journeys.

    Dana Sykora- Lead Guide

    Originally from Ontario, Dana is a beam of shinning light to all who meet her. Her smile is only outmatched by her ability to carry un-proportionally large loads despite her size. She's worked in China and all over Canada. Ask her to read you her favourite Robert Service poem. Equally at home in a canoe, Dana splits her time working for NOLS, Blackfeather and Ipsoot Journeys.

      Mitch Sulkers- Lead Guide

      Mitch Sulkers is a long-time Whistler BC local and community leader. Mitch is actively involved in trail building, hut maintenance, teaching avalanche courses, outdoor education and on top of all that, a highschool teacher with the Whistler Secondary School. His cheer and background as a school outdoor educator makes him a great asset to Ipsoot Journeys.

        Lynnea "Bakes" Baker- Assistant Guide

        Lynnea's quirky and fun attitude means there's never a dull moment and you'll find yourself connecting to her instantly. Lynnea is originally from Calgary AB where her parents- long time Alpine Club of Canada members- started Lynnea outdoors at a young age. Lynnea is a hiking guide and manager for Assiniboine Lodge. She now lives in Revelstoke BC while training to take on the ACMG ski guide certification exams.

          Christine Feleki- Assistant Guide

          Christine's brings a bright character and strong skill-set to the table in addition to a diverse work background. Living in Squamish, she's the first female ACMG splitboard guide and has worked hiking for numerous years with school and youth programs. In the winter she often works doing female specific clinics such as the She Jumps Finishing School, a week long ski mountaineering clinic for women.
